What is Rooted in Resilience?

Rooted in Resilience is an initiative dedicated to empowering and uplifting today’s children, especially children of color, by honoring the strength, beauty, and perseverance that flows through their ancestry. We recognize that their roots carry stories of both triumph and struggle, and that the weight of generational history can shape the path ahead. Through celebration, education, and community connection, we nurture their confidence, honor their heritage, and equip them with the tools to rise above challenges. This initiative is about planting seeds of pride, resilience, and hope, so every child knows they are deeply rooted, unshakably strong, and destined to flourish.

Family Skate Night - June 22nd, 2025

Our Family Skate Night was a lively evening of movement, laughter, and togetherness. We were honored to support over 300 families who came out to enjoy music, skating, and a welcoming space that encouraged connection across generations. With food, fun, and exciting giveaways, parents and children were able to share in a night of joy while building community bonds.

This event also uplifted our Rooted in Resilience initiative by giving children and families the opportunity to celebrate culture, joy, and resilience in a safe and supportive environment. More than just skating, the night was about strengthening relationships, nurturing wellness, and reminding families that they are never alone on their journey.

Audubon Family Fun Day - May 22nd, 2025

Audubon Family Fun Night was a vibrant evening of connection, celebration, and community wellness. We were honored to support over 400 families as they came together to enjoy an uplifting and family-friendly space filled with games, crafts, and engaging activities for all ages. Each Child who was a child who attends Audubon Elementary received a skateboard or a scooter of their choice with a Helmet. Families also received access to valuable wellness resources, youth programs, summer activities, and family support services, all designed to strengthen and empower our community.

With food, fun, and interactive opportunities, the night offered more than entertainment, it was a chance for families to build memories, deepen connections, and feel supported. This event also reflected our Rooted in Resilience initiative by creating positive childhood experiences and honoring the strength, culture, and resilience of families in our community.

Jump for Joy - February 28th ,2025

Our Jump for Joy event brought together over 200 people for an energetic day filled with laughter, play, and connection. Sponsored by Innovia, this event created a safe and joyful space for families to come together and celebrate community. In partnership with RAZE, every child received a special goodie bag to take home, while every family was served delicious pizza to enjoy together.

Jump for Joy wasn’t just about fun, it was about fostering togetherness, supporting families, and strengthening bonds across our community. Rooted in our commitment to resilience and wellness, the event highlighted the importance of creating positive, joy-filled experiences for children and families alike.

BMHW Family Fun Day - April 13th, 2025

Black Maternal Health Week’s “The Art of Birth: Family Fun Day” was a beautiful day of joy, connection, and cultural celebration. We were honored to support and uplift over 300 people while bringing families together in solidarity and empowerment.

The event was filled with laughter, games, and activities for all ages. Families enjoyed snacks and lunch together, and every child received a special gift of their choice, an Easter basket, skateboard, or scooter (with helmets provided!).

This vibrant gathering was more than just a day of fun, it was a powerful celebration of Black maternal health, highlighting both the challenges and the triumphs within our community. It also uplifted and connected to our Rooted in Resilience initiative, which is dedicated to empowering children of color by honoring their ancestry, resilience, and future potential.

Together, we created a space that not only celebrated families in the present but also planted seeds of strength and hope for generations to come.
