Rooted in Resilience is an initiative dedicated to

empowering and uplifting today’s children,

especially children of color, by honoring the

strength, beauty, and perseverance that flows

through their ancestry. We recognize that their

roots carry stories of both triumph and struggle,

and that the weight of generational history can

shape the path ahead. Through celebration,

education, and community connection, we nurture their confidence, honor their heritage, and equip them with the tools to rise above challenges. This initiative is about planting seeds of pride, resilience, and hope, so every child knows they are deeply rooted, unshakably strong, and destined to flourish.

Lumen Highschool

At the Shades of Motherhood Network, our mission is to empower young parents with the tools, resources, and support they need to succeed in life and in parenthood. We believe no student should have to choose between their education and raising their child, they deserve the chance to thrive in both.

Pregnancy, especially during the teen years, comes with challenges, but with the right support, no one has to face those challenges alone. That’s why we provide parenting classes, fatherhood courses, infant care guidance, mental health resources, and ongoing mentorship.

Together with Lumen High School, we are creating a community where young parents feel supported, capable, and confident, because when parents succeed, their children do too.

Blue Band Initiative

The Blue Band Initiative is a life-saving program created to protect pregnant women who are at risk for preeclampsia or high blood pressure. By wearing a simple blue wristband, these women can immediately alert healthcare providers to their condition, allowing for faster, more effective care in critical moments. This proactive measure helps safeguard both mother and baby, improving outcomes through awareness and timely intervention. Join us in championing this powerful initiative for maternal health.

Providence - Childbirth Education Project

Childbirth Education Project

Our Childbirth Education class is designed to prepare expecting

parents and families for one of life’s most important journeys,

welcoming a new baby. Together, we’ll explore essential topics

such as the stages of labor and delivery, comfort techniques,

birth planning, and what to expect in the hospital or birth setting.

Participants will also learn about postpartum recovery, newborn

care, and resources for ongoing support.

This class creates a safe and supportive environment where you can ask questions, connect with other families, and feel confident in your birth journey. Whether you are preparing for your first child or adding to your family, our goal is to empower you with knowledge, tools, and encouragement every step of the way.

Our Diaper Bank provides families with essential items, like diapers, wipes, formula, and more, completely free of charge.

When half of American families can’t meet such a basic need for their children, it’s more than a statistic, it’s a crisis. Lack of access to diapers can lead to health problems, developmental delays, and mental health challenges for both parents and children.
